My mom asked her 3rd grade students to give RG & me tips for a happy marriage. These are some of their thoughts... I've bolded my favorites:
1. Not lie
2. Tell each other what is bothering you
3. Talk to each other over coffee
4. Ryan, buy Sarah some candy
5. Be nice to each other
6. Tell jokes
7. Watch movies together
8. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all
9. Eat healthy
10. Help each other out
11. Have fun with each other
12. Ryan, give Sarah breakfast in bed
13. Ryan, give Sarah roses
14. Tell each other that you love each other everyday and all day
15. Have a lot of humor
16. Talk to each other a lot
17. Share candy
18. Be nice
19. Ryan, take Sarah to get her nails done
20. Exercise
21. Ryan, don’t let Sarah do all the cleaning
22. Read a lot
23. Give each other advice
24. Know each other very well. My parents didn’t know each other that well when they got married.
25. Brush your teeth before you get married
26. Don’t be scared about being married
27. Wear nice clothes on holidays
28. Don’t forget your anniversary
29. Don’t let anything get in the way of your happiness
30. Respect each other by having manners
31. Ryan, remember that “WORDS MATTER,” so don’t make Sarah upset
32. Go on a honeymoon
33. Go on dates every once in a while
34. Say nice things to each other
35. Don’t go crazy when you’re married…or it won’t work out
36. Go to fun places like Six Flags, but don’t ride the roller coaster
37. Be yourself
38. Don’t go out to eat that much because it’s expensive
